Chester County Monster By Marshall Brack (Viewed 248 times)
took this Chester County Monster on November 7, 2008 in Chester, South Carolina. I had gotten up at 2:00 am and drove 98 miles to my favorite hunting spot. I arrived at my stand at 6:30 am. At 6:35, I saw a deer on the edge of the cutover, however, I thought it was only a doe because it was still somewhat dark. So, as I was getting settled into my stand, I took another look at the deer, and I saw the huge right side of his rack as he turned broadside to leave. The deer traveled 50 yards through the brush. When he stepped into my shooting lane, I grunted at him and he stopped. I fired off a shot with my Remington 308 and the monster was mine. According to record books, this monster was 1” shy of the Chester County, South Carolina record books as being the biggest buck ever taken in Chester County. The only bigger one recorded was killed in 1986. My buck scored 158 Boone & Crocket.
