Hello,
First off, I send this in on behalf of my brother a very modest hunter but in desprate need of a range finder. My brother, Joey Moore, hunting on public land in Richwood, West Virginia (the edge of Monongahela National Forest) first spotted this buck on a trail camera well before deer season came in. He hiked 8 miles every week with a 50lb bag of corn and apples into a little "holler" up on the side of a mountain. After dealing with the constant logging of the area and continous hunting pressure that public hunting lands has he let the spot cool off for two weeks. Then about 3 weeks ago after an uneventful day he went back to his honeyhole he found this wonderful scrape and rub that would make anyone's heart race at the "hopefull encounter of a buck worth harvesting". The next day as he hiked that 8 miles wondering what the hunt would bring made the day ever so much more enjoyable despite the bone chilling 40 degree rainy weather. Well, albiet hopefull thoughts, nothing came into his shooting lanes but a massive black bear. (The same bear that has been in this deer's core area the whole time making the deer even much more elusive.) Well with a positive mental attitude and can do Marine Corps work ethic (prior Marine) he hiked that 8 mile trail the next day and stayed in that stand all day. As luck would have just as shooting light was about to end this 8 point (Monster buck for public hunting land) walked right out into his shooting lane. My brother as his adrenalin was tearing away didn't let that get to his nerves as he drew back at this buck at 22yds. He nailed the deer and found the satisifaction that much of us public land hunters can ever just imagine about, harvesting a nice 8 point buck that any deer hunter would be happy to take. With this I end the success story of my brothers can do work ethic and positive mental attitude. I hope that my brother is spotlighted and receives the range finder.
