there were 5 bucks chasing a doe By Frazier Smith (Viewed 362 times)
I shot my buck on Friday the 13th in November. I had seen him the morning before and I got nervous and I spooked him and he ran off. I went back the next morning hoping he would come back and sure enough he did. At first light I had a small 8 pointer in front of my stand maybe 30 yards. As I was watching him we both heard a grunt come from back behind us. He ran over to see what was going on and all of a sudden there were 5 bucks chasing a doe around in a circle right in front of me. I've never seen anything like it before. The chasing lasted for a few mins then they all disappeared and this buck came circling back around and walked within 20 yards of me. I drew back and let the arrow fly. I didnt hit him where I was aiming (in the vitals), but I did hit him right in the neck and he dropped right there and he couldn't get back up. I have never been so excited before, my adreline was pumping. After field dressing him it took me 2 hours to drag him 100 yards and get him in the back of my truck by myself. This was my first year bowhunting and now I'm hooked for life. I scored him at 160. My taxidermist scored him at 153. He is a mainframe 8 with 2 small kickers. I am waiting my 60 days before I can have it officially scored for Pope & Young. I was hunting in Jackson county, Missouri 25 miles east of downtown Kansas City.
